From Oslo Science Park to the World

The story behind Dory

It began with a familiar neighbourhood challenge — identical houses, mixed-up doors, and no good signs. From that small frustration came the idea for Dory, the smart, customizable E Ink door sign that helps people say hey, their way.

Founded by Thomas Ramberg, Dory has grown from a prototype at Oslo Science Park to a product reaching homes and businesses around the world. The signs are partially produced and assembled at Startuplab before shipping globally.

Earlier this year, Dory was invited to join E Ink Corporation at their stand during Display Week in San Jose. Since then, the sign has found its way to places as diverse as private homes, Innovation Norway’s offices in San Francisco, and even a dementia ward in Vadsø kommune — helping people connect, remember, and be seen.
